Local Revue Points Up Cultural Diversity Through Music and Dance

For Immediate Release, July 6, 2016

Arlington, MA—On July 23, 2016, beginning at 8:00PM, audience members sitting in the Regent Theatre, in Arlington, MA, will get to experience something a little different, an audio and visual experience produced by Song Caravan, LLC, entitled, “Midsummer Colors of Jazz: A night of Song, Musicianship, and Dance.” This event is meant to “tickle the imagination, to soothe the spirit, to alternatively create laughter, and ultimately, to inspire the audience,” says Denise “Red” Randall, event creator and one of the event’s producers.

“Midsummer Colors is more than just a jazz concert–it’s an assembly of nearly 30 creative artists and masters of their craft who will be playing Cuban, Brazilian, classic jazz, and other contemporary music and performing a variety of dance styles ranging from modern and jazz dance to Yoruba and freestyle gypsy. This revue is a true melting pot of cultural, simultaneous exhibitions of music and dance,” Randall said.

Among the musical groups performing are the Craig Hlady Ensemble, the Dave Ramsay Trio, Vincente Lebron and Friends, and the Jamie Stewardson Group, and these bands will collaborate on songs throughout the night. Denise “Red” Randall will sing with each of the bands as well. Special guest artist,Anita Coelho, a Latin and Brazilian singer will also grace the stage. Dancers will be collaborating during these performances as well.

In addition to music and dance, there will be a poetry reading by Midsummer Colors’ host and producer, DJ Bonnie Johnson of WICN. There is some light-hearted comedy planned for the evening as well.

Producers also mentioned that while the performers represent a great diversity on the multicultural spectrum, all of them live locally, in Massachusetts.

“We think that the people that get to experience this event are going to leave feeling a rejuvenating, deep connection to each other,” said Randall, “and possibly have more faith in their own dreams.”
